With the endless developments in the tech world, there are no signs of the craze slowing down. In fact, year on year, we are presented with the most revolutionary inventions that completely change the way we live in today’s fast paced, modern world. There are many other innovative technologies, which MAKO has featured previously on their blog, such as Qi-enabled items. This post will highlight the top technological inventions that will shape our lives this year.
Consumer-owned digital health devices
It is no secret that wearables will be on the rise this year, especially when most of the electronic and tech conventions are filled with smart wristwatches and other forms of wearable. These devices are considered to be the newest form of digital health technology that assists consumers in tracking their health in real-time. Currently, there are seven top smartwatches that are dominating the market. According to O2’s list, it includes the Moto 360, Sony SmartWatch 2 and 3, as well as Pebble devices.
Apart from smartwaches, there are also wearables in the form of fashion accessories, such as the Google Glass with augmented reality, and clothes such as Ralph Lauren’s Smart Polo Shirt.
These devices are being tested for the possibility to assist field-based or remote working employees, through ‘bring your own wearable’ (BYOW).
OLED curved screens
Organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays on televisions and mobile devices are the current craze on the consumer electronic department. In 2013, Samsung revealed the ‘world’s first’ curved OLED TV, which provides panoramic, wide view, high definition experience from side to side. According to the company’s representatives, the55-inch television offers almost similar “IMAX feel.” LG also announced their own curved 77-inch OLED TV early this year at the CES 2015.
Leading the pact, Samsung expanded their OLED screen usage through smartphones, with the release of their new flagship device – the Galaxy S6 Edge. The handset has a 5.1-inch Quad HD Dual Curved display, which extends icons on the side panels of the device. Expert predicted that other gadgets will apply this technology soon.
Smarter cars of the future
There will be a rise in the number of smarter cars this year that has the ability to self-drive, lock and unlock via a mobile app, and those that can be located via a smartwatch. During the CES 2015, we witnessed a number of automobile manufacturers and their high-tech cars that presents the future of smart vehicles. Some of the top brands that joined the conference were Ford, BMW, Audi, and Mercedes.
However, top tech companies also revealed their own vehicle, with NVIDIA’s auto-pilot car computer that is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset. There are also reports about Google’s upcoming driverless car, which will be called the Google Chauffeur. Last year, the search giant presented a prototype of the car that doesn’t have a steering wheel or pedals. It is said to take a full test on San Francisco Bay Area this year.
Soon, we should expect more tech inventions arriving on the market or being introduced at international electronic conventions. Today, the aforementioned technologies will be revolutionizing our lives in 2015 and the coming years. What other life-changing inventions do you expect to see in 2015?
