New Industrial Product Design: The Luvo

Luke Roberts has introduced an industrial product design for pendant lamps, making it anything but ordinary. The Luvo is a smart lamp with distinctive features that can be controlled from a simple stroke on your smartphone.

The team behind the Luvo just completed their successful Kickstarter Campaign on January 11, 2016, which they started all the way from Vienna. Their smart lamp, originally named FLUXO, conveniently shifts the direction of light, depending on the control demands set by the user, through their smartphone.

When you want to read but don’t feel the need for too much light, the Luvo lets you adjust the lighting to your personal preferences. Since it is a pendant light, the Luvo gives users the option to choose between direct and indirect lighting that faces the ceiling. This causes fewer glares for individuals, especially when they’re watching TV.

To make this industrial product design more fun, the creators of Luvo incorporated software that allows the lamp to change colours, eliminating the need for mood lights. All of these settings can be made through their easy-to-use control panel app that lets the user brush paint strokes of different colours in different directions.

These commands are then projected through the light, and the more you paint, the brighter the light. The user doesn’t have to worry about what the light looks like when it is projected because the Luvo gives real-time feedback as you place your pick. To make the experience more efficient for the user, the app stores these settings as “light scenes,” so you don’t lose your favourite settings.

Luke made the industrial product design very minimalistic, with white being the only colour available. With its simple, compact design, this lamp is more than functional and can easily blend into any urban or traditional space.
