With the release of the PlayStation 5 came a lot of excitement and curiosity as to what the designers at Sony had in stores for their audience. The video gaming community is well-known for being persistent in their need and appreciation for high-quality graphics, gameplay, control, and a well-built console, so there were a lot of expectations amongst the initial news of a new console.
After its reveal, our Ontario industrial design company saw that the latest console was shown to carry a striking new white design that matches the DualSesnse controller – a smart play for Sony. Any experienced designer knows that it’s important to carry branding and stylistic elements along with the newest product releases in order to stay true and consistent with any previous designs in order to build familiarity and brand recognition.
To our Ontario industrial design company, the design of the console itself is built in a slim body that uses contrasting dual colours. The contrast in its different colours is strategically chosen so that the design looks even more slim and sleek than it already is – a value that console gamers appreciate as it adds to the modernity of the latest console.
Blue light sits within the gap between the two surfaces, signifying where air flows in between the console and giving it a more light, calming appearance to the console. It’s important to note that the design of the console was made to look sleek and slim no matter how its placed within the home, whether it be vertical or horizontal.
Overall, the design is striking, gives homage to its newest branding, and has a light, calming appearance, reinforcing its innovative new look that is both minimalistic and powerful.
