We often attend captivating events and try our best to ensure that the memory is captured in a photograph. But what happens to these photos and where can they be found? A lot of time is spent trying to find photos of us on the Web or asking our friends to send them to us. At MAKO we’re always passionate to support product developments that add value to an industry and enhance user experience. Waldo Photos is an innovation company that has introduced a new way of sharing photos that will allow users to access photos of themselves taken by other individuals, on their phones.
Innovation Company Using Facial Recognition Tech
It takes at least a day to get your photos from a photographer, venue or an event because they need to be uploaded and/or printed. This innovation company created a platform that delivers photos instantaneously to your phone so you don’t have to scroll through a sea of photos on websites to find yours. To use Waldo, you simply have to provide a phone number and a selfie that will allow the system to match your selfie with the photos available on the platform. A notification is directly sent to your phone when a match has been found. Photographers can use a DSLR camera to directly upload to Waldo’s cloud via of a Wi-Fi-enabled SD card. The system uses GPS and time information through an app to identify the photos and the places where they were taken. There are other companies who use facial recognition technology, however the innovation in Waldo’s services lies in the simplification of the process for its users. The Austin-based company recently announced that they’ve obtained $5 million in seed funding led by Upfront Ventures to launch their online photo-finding platform.
The Waldo platform is mostly targeted towards professional photographers. Many photographers don’t have their own websites or services to sell their work, Waldo makes it possible for them to easily monetize their photos using this platform.
The start-up also wants to give people the opportunity to fully enjoy themselves at concerts, sports events, etc., without having to worry about taking photos. “We created Waldo so users can toss their selfie sticks, keep their phones in their pockets and just live in the moment,” said Rice, CEO and co-founder of Waldo Photos. The service will launch to the public in the next 2 to 3 months and will provide apps for iOS and Android.
With Waldo’s system, this innovation company has created an easier and faster way for events and professional photographers to share their photos all in one place. We look forward to seeing Waldo disrupting the photo industry with its new platform.
