McMaster Design League CAD Designathon
Friday, March 4-6, 2022
This event will be held online with Hopin.
We take great pride in being the leading product design firm for startups, home inventors, and small manufacturers in North America. After all, being a leader in this space goes beyond brilliant, functional, and beautiful CAD design. Indeed, for MAKO, this means giving back to the communities we operate in.
We’re regularly looking for great organizations that share our passion for technology, innovation, and education. In fact, we believe almost anyone has the brilliance to come up with a novel and groundbreaking hardware product idea. MAKO is here to help facilitate that at every level.
It’s why we offer free plenty of free resources for experienced and newcomers to our industry. We have hundreds of blogs available on a huge variety of industrial design and CAD topics. On the other hand, for those who like to take their learning on the go, you can listen to The Product Startup Podcast hosted by Kevin Mako. Moreover, we even have a handy Inventor’s Kit to help learn about the entire end-to-end product development process. And, for those who want to understand how serious MAKO Design is about when it comes to protecting intellectual property, inventors can download a copy of our NDA (non-disclosure agreement) for free as well.
It’s also why we partnered with McMaster Design League.
About the MDL CAD Design Competition
Many of us have noticed the surge in popularity of rapid coding competitions known as hackathons. However, a group of mechanical engineers at McMaster University noticed there wasn’t anything similar for CAD (Computer-Aided Design). MDL was born out of a desire to start a similar program. Their goal? To showcase the importance of design in the engineering field.
Run by students for students, MDL also organizes challenges, competitions, and workshops to help students learn about various aspects of CAD, from 3D design to 3D printing.
Nonetheless, their biggest event by far is the annual CAD Designathon. It’s a weekend-long CAD design competition where students use CAD and 3D printing tools to help solve real problems. In addition, students present their solutions and prototypes to the MDL judges for a chance to win software, hardware, and professional development prizes!
To help students with their engineering and CAD design journey, MAKO Design is offering the four winning teams of the competition a private career development discussion with members of our team.
