At MAKO, we love seeing classic games being revamped through technology and science and this for a better experience. We’ve probably all played with Lego™ bricks at some point in our lives, maybe some of us still do.
A young and creative start-up has developed a new way to push the imagination of Lego™ players and their creations further with their invention, Brixo building blocks. Brixo blocks allow users to design their own building block circuits and add lights, sound and motion to any creation and connect them to their phones and the Internet.
Building Blocks Design With Incorporated Electronics

One of the two inventors Boaz Almog is passionate about technology and science, he has been working on BRIXO for a few years, and also gave a TED talk in 2012 about quantum levitation.
Each brick acts as its own conductor, making it possible to create circuits without the need for wires. Brixo bricks are fully compatible with all standard building blocks. BRIXO bricks come with LED lights, motor blocks and sound, light and proximity sensors. The bricks are powered by a 9V Bluetooth-controlled built-in battery block. Users can bring the simplest designs to life with LED lights, motor blocks, trigger blocks and proximity sensors.
“With bricks that can be triggered by sound, light, touch and the entire world of IoT, there isn’t much you can’t do,” say the developers. This is the result you can get when combining Lego™ bricks and Brixo. The bricks are narrower than regular Lego™ bricks, which means no contact between nearby bricks. The entire system was designed to be completely safe for users.
The product design is made of ABS plastic hard coated with chrome. The highly durable chrome coating makes a completely different building experience. One of the greatest features of Brixo is that users can operate their designs from their phone through Bluetooth.
With a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign, within just a couple of days, the estimated date of delivery is October 2016. This innovation isn’t only targeted to kids but could also be used by any inventor or designer working on DIY projects or prototyping for personal or professional use. We believe that the educational approach to electricity and circuits could definitely be enhanced through inventions like these.
