Nothing like throwing your meticulously crafted paper airplane and not having it plummet straight down to the floor! This innovative new product should be fun for all ages and help you get that beautiful aircraft high up into the sky where it belongs.
Created by Powerup toys (@poweruptoys) the Powerup 3.0 is a smartphone controlled electric motor that attaches to any paper airplane. This cool new product was created by Industrial Designer and aviation enthusiast Shai Goitein who placed it on Kickstarter.com for funding. So far so good, as Shai has raised almost $1M .
How does it work? First, you create your own unique paper airplane. You then slip the device onto the nose of the plane, upload the remote controller app to your smartphone, and then fire up the motor! It is that simple. The plane requires an initial toss (as you naturally would do with any paper airplane), and then the motor will carry the plane for the rest of the flight. The plane can then be steered by tilting your smartphone as you watch your masterpiece bank through the skies. It has a range of upwards of 180 feet thanks to the latest in Bluetooth technology, and the device is easily recharged via the micro USB port. Worried about crashing? Don’t be, the device is built with carbon fiber components to ensure that it’s both durable as well as lightweight.
When these hit store shelves you can guarantee I’ll be picking one up, as I have to say this might be cooler than sliced bread!
