We are becoming an increasingly eco-conscious society. But let’s face it, recycling can be quite a messy task. Things get spilt and cleanliness can be difficult to achieve. This is where MAKO Design + Invent’s client LIDIT’s simple yet inventive design comes in. Ideal for your home or commercial use, LIDIT addresses the problems associated with blue boxes not having lids. It is a recycling bin lid which features two flaps with rectangular slits that when joined, form a circular cutout. Both the cutout and slits make it easy to deposit your recycling without the fear of it overflowing, flying away, or spilling everywhere.
The inventive design of LIDIT snaps easily on to your standard sized recycling bins at home, eliminating the need to repurchase a new one. By snapping on LIDIT, its utility and environmental purposes are greatly amplified. It makes disposing of paper, bottles, and cans easy without having to open or remove the lid. When you’re ready to empty the recycling bin, simply flip open the flaps and dump the contents.
Invented in Ontario, Canada, LIDIT was created as a result of it’s designer driving home from work while trying to dodge garbage that had blown across city streets (including her own) and wondering why don’t blue boxes have lids?! By design, it is a powerful multi-tasker that instantly becomes more weather resistant, animal resistant, stronger, and stackable.
With the inventive design of LIDIT, cleanliness is not the only advantage that you will receive. In addition to giving you increased privacy and organizational benefits, it will give your home a less cluttered look as the recycling bin contents are hidden. Such a simple invention can change the way you feel and go about your recycling. Perhaps, it will even encourage you to recycle more!
