We often hear of new innovations which have the potential to make our everyday lives more hassle-free or innovations that simply entertain. But how often do these inventions have the ability to impact the world on a larger scale? Here are a few:
1) A mouth guard that can detect concussions: Concussions are frequently problematic to detect. Mamori, a mouth guard with built-in sensors, meant for sports players, can send an alert if a collision is strong enough to cause a concussion.
2) A scanner that can assess the nutritional content of food: When eating out, it is often difficult to determine what exactly is in the food we are consuming. SCiO, a spectrometer, can assess what you are putting into your body, including the calorie and chemical content of food and drinks alike.
3) A shower that reuses its water: It comes as no surprise to learn that showers, long or short, are resource exhaustive. OrbSys, a closed-loop system shower, filters and recycles your used water. As a result, users have access to clean shower water. A similar concept with toilets can be found on our previous blog post: A Happy Conscience and a Larger Wallet! – The Eco-Friendly Desert Shell
Innovation truly has the ability to impact. What may start off as a simple concept or design, can potentially change the world. For more on the above and other groundbreaking inventions, click here.
