Wearable technology has come a long way from your traditional digital watch to a smart watch that allows you to answer your phone calls. This is why MAKO is devoted to the evolution of product development, because we recognize the need for improving the way we incorporate technology into our daily lives. Austin is crawling with inventors who have a passion for new product design and development. Gest is among those innovative start up companies who have launched a Kickstarter campaign that has found an immense amount of success for their wearable technology. Their innovative wearable technology design is specifically targeted towards individuals who are keen on design, such as software developers and graphic designers. MAKO loves user experience design to be all about the human experience. That’s what Gest offers with its personalized settings that become flexible to the unique movements of every individual’s hands.
Features of the Wearable Technology:
Unlike your typical keyboard, this wearable hand device is light in weight, and has an adjustable strap that’s meant to be worn around the palm of our hands. From the palm there are four wires that connect to comfortable clamps, which grip unique to your fingers. To keep their minimalistic design consistent Gest offers their wearable device in black, however their limited edition comes with a natural wood grain. This wearable device is a great addition to augmented reality, as it promises to adapt to your hand movements and create a human experience.
The engineers behind Gest have ensured speed and precision with low latency, allowing the device to pick up gestures fast, and with more accuracy. As mentioned before, Gest is a great tool for using design programs such as Photoshop, and also 3D modeling tools such as Maya, 3DS, and AutoCAD. The wearable technology has also incorporated an API so users can access their movement data. Users can do this by virtually accessing their skeletal models, or by simply reading the raw data.
Company’s Success:
Gest’s success is one to celebrate, as the company pledged a goal of $100,000 on Kickstarter, and with seven days remaining, they’ve raised a whopping $184,823! They also spent two years testing different prototypes going from simple duct tape and copper wires, to what they hope will be a sleek black, hand device that seamlessly fits like a glove. Their wearable technology hopes to be a great contribution for eliminating the use of traditional keyboards, as well as research in virtual realities.
