Staff Spotlight on Cameron Navarre, Mechanical Engineer

At MAKO Design + Invent, our invention design agency has three offices located in Toronto, Austin, and London with around 25 amazing staff that help bring products and innovations to life. In an effort to introduce you to more of our staff, we wanted to take the time to feature one of our mechanical engineers based out of our Austin office, Cameron Navarre.

We chatted with Cameron to get the down-low on his day-to-day at MAKO and also a bit more about his background.

Q1. Tell us what you focus on primarily at our invention design agency

My focus at MAKO is the mechanical engineering and development of products.  This includes engineering research and analysis, 3D CAD modelling, DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly), FEA (Finite Element Analysis), as well as prototype fabrication, testing, and assembly.

Q2. Tell us a bit about your experience before MAKO

Before working at MAKO, I worked as an engineer at an aerospace company developing interior components for passenger aircraft.  I also spent time working at an Ag-tech startup company, where I helped develop the equipment used for processing food waste into organic fertilizer. Now I’m excited to be part of an innovative invention design agency like MAKO.

Q3. What is your biggest strength?

I consider my biggest strength to be my passionate interest in all aspects of product design and development. Having an appreciation for the non-technical aspects of a product allows me to better contribute to the holistic goals of a project.

Q4. What’s your favourite part about working at MAKO?

I love the endless variety of projects I get to work on. As an engineer, it’s rare to find an opportunity where you can contribute to nearly every stage of the product development process. It is even rarer to find an opportunity that allows you to work on completely different types of products. The fact that I’m able to do both of these things at Mako is a testament to the uniqueness of the company.
